My door bolt has lots of locking points and a large deadbolt. Is this secure?

It doesn't matter how many hooks and deadbolts your door has. It's all down to the snap security of the euro cylinder. Once this has been snapped, the other security components are pretty much useless as the door can be opened in seconds. That's why we only supply and fit snap-safe locks. My euro cylinder has a British Kitemark. Is this secure?

The British Kitemark Standard BS EN 1303:2005 isn't snap-safe. Only the SS312 Sold Secure Diamond and BSI TS007:2014 3 Star accreditation mean that the cylinder has passed lock snapping tests. Mersey Locksmiths offer both standards when we supply and fit Ultion® high security snap-safe locks, without the need for additional security handles or cylinder guards. These come with a £1,000 manufacturer guarantee if you're broken into by lock snapping, as well as our 10% multi-lock discount.

My euro cylinder has sacrificial sections. Does this make it snap-safe?

Regardless of the sacrificial cut, euro cylinders that only have a TS007 1 Star kitemark rating haven't passed lock snapping tests. These need additional 2 Star rated security hardware, such as handles or cylinder guards, at extra cost. The most secure way to protect your door is to upgrade to Ultion® high security snap-safe locks.

Did you know?

Hooks, shootbolts and deadbolts all provide effective locking points on a door. But the single most important part is the euro cylinder; the part where you put your key to actually unlock the door. Once this has snapped, all the locking points in the world wouldn't stop the door from being opened within seconds.

We really recommend you upgrade to snap-safe locks. You can also choose keyed alike, which allows you to open and close all the locks around your home with one key.
